Yeast Infections from Thong Panties

Although millions of women have been wearing thong panties for years, the question always arises whether thongs can cause yeast infections of urinary track infections (UTI). Many men and women will agree that thongs are sexy and exciting, but there are always those women who hear tales about infections, and they worry about contracting infections that could impair their health.

Consumers spend approximately $575 million on thong panties every year in the United States; that's not including the millions of thongs that are sold internationally. However, to set the record straight, there is no proven health harm in any medical journals or scientific studies to substantiate that infections occur in women who wear thongs. However, in fairness to statistics, it has been reported that a number of gynecologists have documented that an undefined number of women do suffer from UTI's and yeast infections, but they're not linked to wearers of thong panties.

Although thong panties may irritate women with sensitive skin, a thong's fabric protects against potential irritants. It's truly up to the individual wearer's sensitivity for each woman to determine if she is not comfortable wearing a thong. It's known that infections are caused by bacteria. However, if a woman keeps herself clean and dry, and if she doesn't normally suffer from skin irritations due to wearing a thong, a problem seldom results.

If a woman's delicate skin tissues have micro-abrasions or tiny cracks in the skin, irritation can result. Then it would be wise for a woman to discontinue wearing a thong rather than to experience undue discomfort. Moreover, if a woman doesn't practice routine healthcare examinations, and she doesn't take care of herself, or if she has a compromised immune system, then her biggest decision will be whether to wear the panties or not.

If a woman's delicate skin tissue becomes irritated, then it's best to stop wearing thongs for awhile. However, to set the record straight, thong panties do not create infections; poor health habits do, and this is true whether a woman wears thong panties or full coverage cotton briefs. As a precaution, if a woman suspects that hse has a vaginal infection or urinary tract infection, she should schedule an appointment with her doctor as soon as possible.

If a woman wears thong panties everyday and she's never noticed negative health problems, then she can continue wearing thongs with no worries.
